Nasi with Satay Sauce

Make delicious nasi with satay sauce and crispy fried onions (serves 2).

The best nasi with satay sauce is homemade and, of course, topped with crispy fried onions.

Ingredients

  • 150g rice
  • 100g green beans
  • 50g bean sprouts
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • Satay sauce
  • Crispy fried onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons ketjap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Let it cool after cooking so it becomes firmer and easier to stir-fry.
  2. Boil the green beans in salted water for 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and rinse with cold water to maintain their green color.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until golden brown.
  4. Add the cooked rice to the pan and stir-fry over medium heat.
  5. Add the ketjap manis, soy sauce, salt, and pepper, and stir well.
  6. Meanwhile, boil the egg for 8-10 minutes until hard-boiled. Cool under cold water, peel, and cut in half.
  7. Prepare the satay sauce according to the package instructions.
  8. Divide the nasi over the plates.
  9. On each plate, add the bean sprouts, green beans, cucumber slices, and half a boiled egg, and drizzle with a generous scoop of satay sauce.
  10. Sprinkle with crispy fried onions.

Taste and enjoy!
